About the position

As a maintenance technician at Göta Canal, you will have a unique workplace in one of Sweden's most beloved cultural heritage sites and most visited destinations.

The position is varied and involves both independent work and teamwork, both indoors and outdoors. Our workforce in Västergötland is based at our workshop in Sjötorp and works along the stretch from Sjötorp to Karlsborg. Currently, the team consists of five maintenance technicians and one operations manager responsible for daily operations.

The group is responsible for managing and developing the canal facility and the waterway Göta Canal by performing the right maintenance at the right time. Identifying needs, planning, driving, and executing preventive maintenance and renovation projects are part of the daily work. The goal is for the facility to be operated efficiently, safely, and with high availability.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the canal facility and the waterway Göta Canal

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on bridges, locks, and hydraulic systems

• Participate in fairway work with workboats in the canal's lakes

• Build and renovate lock gates, bridges, and hydraulic systems

• Maintain docks, guest harbors, control houses, and bridges

• Participate in standby duty (one week at a time from May to September)

The position is full-time with the base location in Sjötorp. Working hours are daytime (7 AM to 4 PM) with overtime as needed. Salary is paid according to agreement, and start date is by mutual agreement.
